The old Wheal Coates engine house, set against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, is an iconic image of Cornish mining history.  As well as this claim to fame, Wheal Coates is synonymous with its Cassiterite pseudomorphs after Carlsbad twins of Orthoclase feldspar.  These were famously found around 1828 and always take the form of very fine-grained granular Cassiterite mixed with equally sized Quartz to varying degrees.  This very sharp and beautifully defined pseudomorph is a very dark grey, verging on black, which indicates a high percentage of Cassiterite in the structure.  A roughly 5 x 4 mm mound, possibly a part-crystal, of milky Quartz sits halfway along one face.  The pseudomorph has a natural crack extending part way from one end to into the replacement structure, but this naturally terminates and is in no danger of propagating further.  This is an excellent example of this most Classic Cornish pseudomorph.
