The Marble quarry at Marthahütte, south-west of Chemnitz in Bavaria, Germany is host to just a handful of mineral species of which Quartz is the showiest!  Iron-stained acicular crystals to over 2 cm completely cover a thin, shell-like Quartz-Dolomite matrix with crude but distinct Dolomite crystals beneath.  The specimen has deliberately not been over-cleaned to retain its patina, a characteristic of this locality.  A great specimen of Quartz from a seldom seen location.
