Kit Hill Consols sits almost at the summit of Kit Hill, a granite outlier of the Bodmin Granite, just north of Callington in north Cornwall. This mine forms the epicentre of a dense cluster of mines and locally Kit Hill is known as “The Hollow Hill” because of the extensive mining activity.  Two solid patches of silver-white metallic Molybdenite measuring 1.5 x 1 cm and 1.4 x 1 cm are set perfectly for display on top of a small Quartz vein matrix.  The Molybdenite exhibits characteristic foliated crystals in gently folded drapes.  A choice and unusual location piece; specimens from this mine are very rarely seen for sale and are scarce even in good collections of Devonshire minerals.
