Fluorite on Quartz

ID: CC20555
The Yaogangxian mine in Hunan Province, China is a tin-tungsten mine and is now famous for its amazing colour-zoned Fluorites which take on numerous colours and an infinite number of zoning patterns.  The Fluorite on this gorgeous small cabinet specimen is deposited across two tiers of a rather beautiful matrix of aligned, double terminated snow-white Quartz crystals.  These crystals average about 1.5 to 3 cm long and are often flattened with a bright, highly reflective silky lustre.  The Fluorite crystals are all similarly zoned and range between about 0.6 and 1.2 cm on edge.  Very tiny, 2 mm to sub-1 mm pale lavender Fluorites are also strewn here and there on the Quartz matrix.  The cubic Fluorite crystals all have outer lavender-grey zoning which contain deep lilac nested phantoms.  An exquisite example of zoned Fluorite on milky Quartz from the Yaogangxian mine.
