Fluorite with Pyrite on Quartz

ID: CC20578
Intense deep purple zoned Fluorite crystals are attractively scattered across the surface of tiny, 1 to 2 mm, glassy white Quartz crystals making a delightful and showy small cabinet specimen.  The cubic Fluorite crystals range from 0.3 to 1.0 cm on edge and are typically about 8 mm.  All are semi-transparent and contain concentrically nested alternating zones of deep purple and deep lilac, and always with one quite colourless zone just below the surface.  Sub-1mm crystals of tarnished brass Pyrite are sparsely scattered over the Quartz surface, occurring as cuboctahedrons and pyritohedrons.  A wonderful and striking group of richly coloured and zoned Chinese -Fluorite.
