Fluorite with Pyrite on Quartz

ID: CC20587
Fluorite crystals of between 0.8 and 1 cm are richly scattered over a snow-white milky Quartz matrix from the Yaogangxian mine in Hunan Province, China.  This specimen is best display stood upright so the best and most densely packed ribbon of Fluorite crystals appears to drape over and across the specimen’s top, or side.  All the Fluorite cubic crystals are a beautiful deep lavender and contain multiple nested phantoms outlined by deep lilac zones.  When stood upright, an almost continuous druse of micro-crystallised brassy-golden Pyrite meanders across the crest, forming an aesthetic metallic cap.  The back (or base) is even more intensely covered by Fluorite crystals but these are translucent to opaque damson, showing little in colour zoning.  A tremendous combination of zoned Fluorite contrasting against white Quartz and capped with metallic Pyrite from the Yaogangxian mine.
