Fluorite with Pyrite on Quartz

ID: CC20588
An elongated, thin yet strong matrix,  covered in a druse of 1 mm snow-white Quartz crystals, is piled across with the most scrumptious looking purple Fluorite crystals with remarkable colour-zoning.  This cabinet specimen is from Yaogangxian mine in Yizhang County, a tin-tungsten mining district within the Hunan Province of China.  The Fluorite crystals are uniform in size, only varying from 1.2 to 1.4 cm on edge and are equally uniform in their deep purple colour alternating with smoky-grey-lavender.  These two colours form intensely coloured nested phantoms, all with a broad central zone of smoky-lavender crackled with deep lilac.  Some sub-2 mm lavender cubes of Fluorite are scattered over the milky Quartz crystals. Preferentially coating some of the Fluorite is finely crystalised bright golden Pyrite, forming small mounds and indicating the ‘way-up’ of the specimen while in-situ.  A charming, zoned Fluorite dusted in golden Pyrite from the Yaogangxian mine in China.
