The Papa pocket in the Diana Maria mine in Weardale, county Durham, produced many magnificent Fluorite specimens of exquisite colour and remarkable transparency.  This sublime large miniature is unreservedly beautiful and a real show-stopper.  Completely gemmy, transparent, elongated cubic Fluorite crystals totally cover the top surface of a hydrothermally altered limestone.  The colour of the Fluorite is stunning, perhaps best described as a neon emerald-green yet with a hint of sea-green somewhere in the mix!  It has an intensity of colour to immediately halt any roving glance across a shell full of specimens.  The crystals occur as interpenetrant twins with mirror-smooth faces and, in direct daylight (here, autumnal Somerset sunshine) the crystals fluoresce an intense inky sapphire-blue, especially around their edges, framing the remaining inner bright emerald-green cores.  It is sensational!
