This museum grade Fluorite is from The Bull Vein at Lady Annabella mine near Eastgate in Weardale.  A bed of large and gemmy ginger-amber Fluorite cubes of typically 3 to 4 cm across form as single intergrown crystals with no apparent twins.  The crystals are very clean-cut and precise, with razor-sharp edges and corners and highly lustrous glassy faces.  Deeper within each crystal are cloudy zones of feathered white and cream sucrosic Fluorite, in which the process of crystallisation has been disrupted and hence is different from the transparent gemmy zones.  Enhancing the overall aesthetic even more, a narrow and very delicate lavender band edges every cube and although only weakly fluorescent, intensifies to a stronger shade of blue in daylight.  Overall, the specimen is non-fluorescent in daylight, but vivid bright lavender and lilac-blue under artificial LWUV.  Magnificent.
