Fluorite and Halides

ID: CC20625
This stand-out specimen from the Fairy Holes Pocket at Lady Annabella mine is remarkable for its one massive interpenetrant twin, displayed to perfection against a bed of an almost drusy coverage of small sub-cm Fluorite cubes, averaging around 4 mm. The latter are reasonably transparent and of a pale apple-green.  The primary crystal of the interpenetrant twin measures 2.8 x 2.2 x 1.7 cm and has a much smaller but more elongated twin, both of a deep and rich chromium sea-green.  This pair are strongly colour zoned, the main notable feature being an outer thick green band within which is a dominant purple zone.  In daylight the inner core of each twinned crystal fluoresces vivid lilac-blue while the outer green surfaces and rims remain green.  The carpet of small Fluorite crystals is non-fluorescent.    A fabulous cabinet specimen from Fairy Holes Pocket which will look magnificent when displayed.
