I have had the privilege of collecting in the spectacular landscape of the Goboboseb Mountains in Namibia but, sadly, did not encounter a specimen such as this!  Quartz Amethyst with Prehnite, Epidote and Calcite on a mid-grey volcanic matrix makes a spectacular specimen displaying colourless to delicate violet Amethyst, lime to peppermint green Prehnite and intensely dark green Epidote which displays an intense coal-black.  If that were not enough, several curved rhombic colourless to light grey Calcite crystals are scattered between the other crystals.  The tallest Amethyst attains an impressive 5 cm and the broadest, 4.5 cm tall by 2 cm between flats.  Many of the Quartz crystals remain colourless and reasonably gemmy.  Those which are Amethyst begin as colourless then morph into delicate purple and violet.  A charming cabinet specimen so characteristic of the specimens for which the Goboboseb Mountains are famous.
