An ex-matrix, single crystal of pink Elbaite Tourmaline from Coronel Murta in Brazil. This specimen is from a large, recently discovered, magnificent pocket of pink and red Elbaite. The crystal is a delightful mix of translucent strawberry and more cloudy, sugary candy-pink and stands 3.9 cm tall, mounted on a clear acrylic base. Enhancing the aesthetic are a group of translucent pure white milky Quartz crystals jutting out from one side at 45 degrees and all in parallel alignment. These Quartz crystals are up to 2 cm long and appear to have colourless interiors which are masked by a frosted sucrosic white Quartz coating. The Elbaite prism is deeply striated and is well terminated to the point where the back of the prism is truncated. This face is complete yet not fully developed due to lack of space to grow (accommodation space) when in-situ and the Elbaite in this face is an opaquer creamy candy-pink with fine vertical striations. A beautiful Elbaite with Quartz from Coronel Murta.
