Elbaite (Tourmaline) Double Terminated

This ex-matrix, single crystal of pink Elbaite Tourmaline from Coronel Murta in Brazil is a pleasing mixture of transparent strawberry and translucent bright candy-pink with the bonus of being double terminated. The terminations are completely different, the partly gemmy one being pyramidal with a glassy lustre and opposite, a smooth and flat pinacoid termination with one bevelled face and of translucent creamy candy-pink, the sort of candy with extra sugar in the melt! The entire prism is translucent, allowing transmitted light to pass through its entire length, yet many zones do tend towards gemmy. A 1 cm long terminated Elbaite crystal is attached horizontally to one prism face, along with several sub-1 mm crude double terminated milky Quartz crystals. A lovely miniature.
