Hessite with Quartz

Hessite is a rare silver telluride and this beautifully crystallised specimen, interlaced with small and spikey Quartz crystals, is from the old gold mining area at Botești in Zlatna, Romania.  Superb skeletal graphite-grey Hessite crystals pervade a matrix of tapering acicular Quartz crystals of between 1 and 4 mm.  The Hessite crystals are abundant and tend to form as somewhat rounded tabular prisms and plates, the latter exceptionally attaining 10 x 8 x 2 mm, all with skeletal ribs and voids.  This is a remarkably rare, rich and wonderfully crystallised Hessonite from Romania.
