Elbaite (Tourmaline) with Lepidolite on Albite

ID: CC20732
Cute 1.8 cm tall leaf-grading up to bright tea-green Elbaite Tourmaline crystals are attached to a snow-white matrix of Albite Feldspar overgrown by many superb groups of well-crystalised lavender Lepidolite mica.  The Lepidolite also sits around the base of the Elbaite and concavely covers one of its three individual terminations, the remining two having pinacoids, mirror-like in their brilliant lustre and reflectance.  The Albite forms sub-parallel glassy plates of the variety Cleavelandite.  Growing on some of the Lepidolite crystals are 1 to 2 mm spherically-shaped sucrosic domes which could be the rare pegmatite species Perhamite, but these require analysis.  A delightful large thumbnail containing bags of interest and beauty.
