The way in which this specimen displays, stood vertically on a small clear acrylic base, is superb and looks like a thumbnail version of a large museum Tourmaline specimen!  Two parallel Elbaite crystals of identical height emerge from an Albite matrix, almost entirely covered with crystallised pale lavender Lepidolite mica.   A considerably smaller Elbaite crystal rises just in front of the main pair, mimicking their colour and colour sequence exactly.

The Elbaites begin pale lavender-blue, possibly picking up the colour of the enveloping Lepidolite.  This colour merges into translucent light candy-pink for the remaining length of the prisms, only to abruptly change to what can only be described as jet-black terminations, 1 mm deep.  It looks like a blue-cap Tourmaline, but with a black cap!  You know what I mean!  The prisms are highly distorted, elongated triangles in cross-section and the terminations are micro-crystallised with micro-Albite overgrowths.  Bladed spheres up to 5 mm in diameter, perched on the Lepidolite, could be Perhamite.  An iconic Elbaite Tourmaline at a large thumbnail size from Barra de Salinas in Coronel Murta, Brazil.
