Elbaite (Tourmaline)

ID: CC20764
A charming group of at least six Elbaite Tourmaline prisms, joined along their prism faces and of differing height, give the appearance of a group of skyscrapers, albeit beautifully coloured skyscrapers!  Although the specimen is mainly translucent, all crystals are semi-transparent and become more gemmy towards their terminations.  Their lower halves are leaf-green, grading to leafy-lime green then merging to candy pink, with an overall impression of green and red rhubarb.  Finally, their pyramidal terminations are a lemony-gold.  A splendid Elbaite from Coronel Murta in Minas Gerais, Brazil, mounted vertically on a bevelled clear acrylic base.
