An unusually structured small miniature of Chrysocolla replacing Malachite pseudomorphed after Azurite and coated with Quartz. This is from Tenke-Fungurume, an area delineating a 30 km copper-cobalt mineralised zone between Tenke hill and Fungurume hill in the Kolwezi mining district of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The lozenge-shaped spear-like crystals of former Azurite are now pseudomorphed to Chrysocolla with a remnant bottle-green Malachite core, the latter visible in three narrow areas across the specimen. Two of the crystals are cojoined and the third is perched on top, connected by the ubiquitous coating of glassy colourless transparent Quartz crystals. The Chrysocolla is a vivid and intense sky-blue, so making a specimen of great aesthetics. This comes mounted on a small colourless acrylic base.
