Fluorite

Wow! Quite a show-stopping magnificently zoned Fluorite from the Okorusu mine in the Otjiwarongo District of Namibia. An ex-matrix specimen of two partly inter-grown cubic crystals, is dominated by the blue intensity of the outer zoning, with an outer thin rim of deep inky-blue quickly followed by triple parallel bands of raspberry-purple, cornflower blue, indigo. This is an overall simplification, and I can count at least ten distinct separate colour zones in the outer edges of each crystal. What sensational Fluorites such specimens are! The crystals are mainly transparent with patchy opaque centres. They also display rotated cubic phantoms and wispy tadpole-like micro-inclusions, not often seen in Fluorite from this locality. A delightful Fluorite from Okorusu which features a whole host of complex colour zoning, phantoms and inclusions.
