Beautifully crystallised silvery-golden crystals of Marcasite form a roughly 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm cluster at the crest of a creamy-white chalk matrix from the occurrence at Cap Blanc-Nez in France.  The Marcasite forms both equant and flattened pyramidal crystals up to 1 cm, all with a bright metallic lustre.  Cap Blanc-Nez, situated 13 km east of the centre of Calais, is a coastal outcrop where the high chalk cliffs meet the English Channel.  A fine example of Marcasite from this famous French locality.
