Beryl var. Aquamarine
ID:
CC21066
This aesthetic and unusually coloured Aquamarine variety of Beryl is from the granite pegmatites located west of Coronel Murta in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Although a single prism, one half is characteristically of hexagonal form, displaying three of the six prism faces. The crystal growth on the opposite side has been disrupted to form at least three part hexagonal crystals, aligned parallel to the major face opposite. The base of the prism begins opaque pale milky sky blue then after about 1 cm suddenly changes to transparent pale aquamarine greenish-blue, the prism filled with misty fracture planes. A splendid Aquamarine from Barra de Salinas.
