From the Tenke-Fungurume area of the Kolwezi mining district in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, this miniature displays four principal crystals of Chrysocolla pseudomorphing after Malachite which in turn are pseudomorphed after Azurite. The Chrysocolla now adopts the bladed habit of the original Azurite. The Chrysocolla is completely coated with sub-mm, colourless and transparent crystals of Quartz which give the specimen a brilliant, sparling glassy lustre. On one side of the specimen several narrow bands of light leaf-green Malachite have been preserved, some made paler by a coating of Quartz, while that on the base remains uncoated. The Chrysocolla forms pseudomorphed crystals to 3.8 cm tall, retaining the distinctive chisel-shaped habit of the original Azurite.
