Cuprite on Azurite

ID: CC2108
A small miniature of Malachite coating Cuprite crystals on Azurite from the celebrated French locality of Chessy-les-Mines. The interpenetrant cuboctahedral Cuprite crystals sit aesthetically by the apex of the Azurite. The Cuprite crystals measure to 1 cm and are coated, and partly replaced by, light green Malachite with a fairly coarse surface texture and largely matt lustre. This group contrasts against the underlying deep powder blue Azurite matrix, itself made up of individual and fanned grouping of crystals. These are spotted and intergrown with ferruginous Quartz and form a central rosette-like cluster.
