Krennerite is a rare gold-silver telluride which forms acicular and cylindrical crystals of pale metallic buttery-gold across the surface of this small miniature from the Cripple Creek District of Teller County, Colorado, USA.  Such crystals, along with numerous granules and flakes of Krennerite, pervade the surface of a 1 cm thick Quartz-rich plate specked on its back face with micro-crystals of Pyrite.  The longest Krennerite crystals extend to about 5 mm and are partly surrounded by what appears to be micro-crystalline Amethyst.  This is a fine example of crystallised Krennerite from the evocative and historic mining district of Cripple Creek and is ex. the Dr Josef Clemente Collection.
