The only mineral species reported from the ore deposit at Saint-Georges-les-Bains at Tournon-sur-Rhône in south-eastern France is Baryte, where it is known to form a variety of habits and adopt many variations in colour. This miniature is a splendid example of thick tabular rhombic crystals with opaque creamy tan edges and transparent to translucent prisms and prism faces. The largest of the group is a splendid rhomb measuring 4.4 x 3.2 x 1.3 cm. The Baryte contains beautifully coloured zones in many shades of cream, white and grey, while punctuated with a fabulous rhombohedral band of teal blue. A delightful specimen from Saint-Georges-les-Bains in France.
