A large thumbnail of deep inky Royal blue azurite forming a compact block of intergrown rhombohedral-shaped crystals from the famous Chessy-les-Mines in Villefranche, France.  The rhombic faced crystals attain 1.6 cm on edge and are an exquisite rich deep ink-blue with a particularly bright glassy lustre.  In places the crystals gently rotate in succession, creating curved faces to the specimen.  A few small crystals of milky-white Cerussite rest on top of the Azurite which add a little contrast to the specimen which is from the Dr Josef Clemente Collection.  An old label accompanies this Azurite, which appears to have been written on the back of a German train ticket!
