Fluorite

ID: CC21230
The Stoneco Auglaize quarry in Paulding County, Ohio, still extracts building stone and is now famous for its superb Fluorite specimens.  This large miniature is a delightful and showy example featuring jelly-like cubes of rich blackberry-purple Fluorite of between 1 and 9 mm on edge, sparsely scattered over dark honey-brown Fluorite crystals with a bright silver iridescence.  The blackberry Fluorites form as both single and interpenetrant twins with wonderful translucency tending to transparent and exhibiting strong concentrically nested colour zones of deep and light blackberry, looking good enough to eat!  A beautiful Ohio Fluorite from the Josef Clemente Collection of southern Germany.
