The zinc silicate Willemite was first encountered in the early years of mining at Tsumeb being found in the 1st Oxidisation Zone and remained a fairly pervasive species throughout the orebody right down to 46 level.  On this large thumbnail the top surface of a hard creamy grey Dolomite matrix is richly coated with undulating globular druses of powder blue Willemite, the largest hemisphere attaining 9 mm diameter.  The smaller druses tend to light grey but all have a glossy lustre while maintaining a slightly waxy texture.  This lovely specimen is mounted to stand vertically on its bevelled colourless acrylic base.
