France is synonymous with fine specimens of Fluorite and this small cabinet piece is a great example from Bergheim in the Ribeauvillé region of Alsace.  Beautiful translucent mauve-purple cubic Fluorite crystals densely cover the upper rim of a 7 cm wide vug in a hard, dark grey-tan limestone matrix.  The Fluorite crystals range between about 0.5 to 1 cm and all display excellent colour zoning, grading from dark violet edges through shades of mauve to a lighter purple face centre.  The Fluorite crystals form a linear jumbled array and are associated with a few cream-tan blades of Baryte which sit lower inside the vug.  A terrific French Fluorite from the Josef Clemente Collection of southern Germany.
