Iconic, emerald green Dioptase crystals are generously scattered over a surface of colourless 1 to 2 mm rhombohedral Calcite crystals from Tsumeb mine in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. For a small miniature the size of the Dioptase crystals is good, measuring up to about 9 mm long. Dioptase is a rare copper silicate and Tsumeb produced some of the finest crystals ever encountered. Some of the Calcite crystals to one side of the Dioptase have a fine dusting of light siskin-lime green Duftite. The contrast between the Dioptase and Calcite is beautiful and the two cover a small matrix of cream and pale pink massive Dolomite.
