The Milky Way Pocket was discovered in the Diana Maria mine in 2020 and was named for the contrast between the white face centres and almost black, intensely dark green Fluorite, reminiscent of stars against the black veil of outer space.   Fluorite from the Milky Way Pocket is associated with Quartz and in this specimen forms an attractive matrix on which the Fluorite sits.  Intergrown Fluorite cubes cover much of the Quartz, the largest crystal measuring 2.5 cm on its longest edge.  The Fluorite has a bright glassy lustre with dark chrome green edges and corners and opaque white faces.  Occasional crystals are entirely green and translucent.  Under LWUV the Fluorite fluoresces bright lilac white and in daylight the natural fluorescence is such an intense dark blue purple it appears almost black.  A splendid Milky Way Fluorite from Diana Maria mine in Weardale, England.
