The November Gem pocket is characterised by cubic crystals of gemmy, mossy-emerald-green Fluorite.  This pocket was discovered in the Diana Maria mine near to the village of Frosterley in Weardale, County Durham.  Both single and twinned crystals occur and can occasionally be distorted.  Larger crystals often exhibit magnificent deep lilac-blue daylight fluorescence and none-gemmy crystals are usually mossy-green with pale creamy-green crazed centres.  All these characteristics are beautifully captured in this terrific large miniature.  Covering the top surface of a tan brown ironstone matrix, the display face is dominated by a magnificent interpenetrant twin whose maximum dimension is 1.8 cm and whose faces turn rich violet in direct daylight due to their natural daylight fluorescence.  The surrounding translucent cubes averaging 0.5 to 1 cm on edge have opaque white frosted faces with minty to emerald green edges; these do not fluoresce in daylight.  Creamy-white micro-blades of translucent to opaque Calcite are lightly encrusted around the Fluorite adding good contrast and making the individual Fluorite crystals stand out.  Under LWUV the entire specimen fluoresces bright bluish-white.  An outstanding Fluorite with Calcite from the November Gem Pocket in the Diana Maria mine.
