A sensationally colour zoned Fluorite from The Bull Vein at Lady Annabella mine in Weardale, County Durham, England.  This large miniature/small cabinet specimen was recovered during the Autumn 2020 mining season at this new operation which works part of the former Eastgate quarry, also known to collectors as the Blue Circle Cement Quarry.  Fluorite crystals coat a rusty red brown ironstone matrix covered with many cubic crystals of around 1 cm.  In the centre of this group sits a 3.0 x 2.7 x 2.3 cm crystal containing asymmetric colour zoning of a quite remarkable character.  This crystal also shows wonderful transparency, with much of the crystal being of gem quality.  Much of the crystal is amber lemon yellow, then towards two adjacent sides of the prism the colour changes to alternating fine bands of lilac transitioning to colourless Fluorite.  It is quite remarkable and one of the most stunning colour zoned Fluorite crystals I have ever seen from Weardale.  Under LWUV the Fluorite crystal’s faces fluoresce purple with lilac outlined edges.  A fabulous yellow Fluorite from the Lady Annabella mine at Eastgate.
