Mimetite

Guatomo is an abandoned lead-tin mine in the Yala Province of Thailand and has been producing excellent Mimetite specimens since its closure thanks to the efforts of two commercial collectors.  This small miniature is a great and well-priced example for anyone seeking a specimen from this now classic locality.  Covering a typical hard limonitic, light rusty brown matrix, translucent, slightly acidic lemon-yellow Mimetite crystals form a piled jumble of prismatic hexagonal crystals.  The prism geometry varies between short and stubby and long and slender, with one larger hexagonal crystal 1.5 cm across flats.  This is a terrific Mimetite from the Guatomo mine in Thailand for just US$200.
