Guatomo is an abandoned tin-lead mine in the Yala Province of Thailand and has been producing excellent Mimetite specimens since its closure thanks to the efforts of two commercial collectors.  This busy miniature has a hard rusty limonitic matrix richly invested and coated with lemon to straw yellow glassy Mimetite crystals in an intergrown jumble, with crystals averaging 2 to 5 mm and occasionally up to 8 mm across flats.  The Mimetite forms a variety of crystal habits, all modifications of the hexagonal system.  The larger crystals tend to be purer forms of the hexagon, forming squat hexagonal tabular crystals of reasonable transparency.  A rich and well-priced example of crystallised Mimetite from the Guatomo mine at Tham Thalu in Thailand.
