Cavnic is one of Europe’s most famous and historic mining towns and gives its name to the surrounding mining district. Set in a spectacular scenic landscape, Cavnic mine itself has produced a massive suite of spectacular minerals and this Baryte is a great example of the teal-blue variety. Covering the display face of a massive Baryte matrix of the same colour, countless delicate blades of transparent teal Baryte to 2 cm on edge and all probably just a little under 1 mm thick, form an intermeshed lattice with a bright glassy lustre.
