Native Gold

ID: CC21536
Clogau St. Davids mine at Bontddu in Dolgellau is one of the more famous gold mines in Wales.  This excellent representative example contains at least ten tiny patches and gains of Native Gold within a plate of brecciated milky Quartz and grey Clogau shale.  The specimen is accompanied with a Richard W. Barstow green stock label, on the reverse of which is written “mined 1980 from winze below bottom level”.  Welsh Gold is much sought after and is a must for any comprehensive British mineral collection.
