The halide Connellite is a hydrous copper chloro-sulphate and is a rare mineral within Cornwall’s richly mineralised ore fields. Specimens from the mines around the village of St. Day in the parish of Gwennap are uncommon and this miniature from Wheal Gorland is a nice example. Micro-spheres of velvety, deep inky blue Connellite line a 1.0 x 0.5 cm vug on top of a matrix of massive Cuprite with patches of probable Chenevixite, other green arsenates and several crystals of turquoise-green Chalcophyllite.
