This beautiful small miniature or large thumbnail has an entire surface coating of highly lustrous Cassiterite crystals from Wheal Pendarves, south of Camborne in Cornwall, England.  Wheal Pendarves began shaft development in 1967 and closed in 1985.  The Cassiterite from this mine was characteristically mirror-bright and often goes under the variety Diamond Tin.  Crystals measure up to about 6 mm and some are genuflexion-twins, with a central bend at the point of twinning.  A delightful and eye catching Cassiterite from Wheal Pendarves.
