Cassiterite with Topaz

ID: CC21559
A solid miniature block of grey black Cassiterite is shot through with thin stringers of off-white Quartz with several crystallised Cassiterite vugs exposed on two adjacent sides. This heavy small miniature is from the little-known Lady Gwendolen mine near Germoe, north of Praa Sands and east of Marazion. This tin mine operated between 1907 and 1934 working a western flack of the Tregonning Granite. Occasion small blocky colourless Topaz crystals also occur with the Cassiterite making for a fine reference specimen for this rare locality.
