The Fluorite uncounted in the Heavy Metal Pocket of Diana Maria mine in Weardale was closely associated with Galena. This superb small cabinet specimen is covered in gemmy green, sharp cubic Fluorite crystals, mostly as interpenetrant twins and all with a magnificent glassy lustre. Their edges are razor sharp although all have mirror-like surfaces and all display linear and part-rectangular surface grow patterns, so typical of Fluorite from Weardale. In direct sunlight the prisms naturally fluoresce an intense violet-blue and under LWUV emit a bright lavender bluish-white fluorescence. In one side of the specimen a small Galena fragment is embedded within the ironstone matrix, although this does not show when displayed. A superb emerald-sea green Fluorite from the Diana Maria mine.
