Native Gold

ID: CC21588
Specimens of Native Gold are infrequently seen in collections from the Prince of Wales mine at Llanelltyd in the county of Gwynedd, Wales.  This former lead mine is situated about 4 km north-west of the town of Dolgellau, the centre of the gold mining district in this part of North Wales.  This is an excellent miniature containing a rich distribution of Native Gold visible on five sides, the only face with no Gold present is the base.  Sub-millimetre grains form rich clusters embedded within the mixed Quartz and shale matrix.  This specimen is accompanied with an Arnold Fisher Minerals stock label and the previous collector’s label.
