Native Copper
ID:
CC21603
A large and heavy cabinet specimen rich in Native Copper from the mines in the parish of Carharrack, south of St. Day and to the east of Redruth. This specimen has been acid etched from a solid matrix and in the main body of the specimen much rock remains shot-through with rich masses of Native Copper. A 7 x 4 cm branch of almost pure Copper projects 4 to 5 cm out from one side and when flicked with a finger, the entire specimen rings through with ‘metallic’ vibrations. The Copper is not crystallised, forming as sharp hackly fronds and branches.
