Langite

ID: CC21612
Bedford United Mine was one of Devon’s most famous copper mines, being the third largest producer in the county.  The rare hydrated copper sulphate Langite occurs in this mine and this lovely miniature is a fine and rich example.  Cyan-blue acicular sprays to about 2 mm long richly cover the surface and line numerous vugs in an iron-stained block of Quartz veinstone matrix.  A really well crystallised example of this relatively rare species.
