This richly crystallised small cabinet specimen of Cuprite demonstrates just how rich the ore could be at Tsumeb and early accounts record that in certain sections of the mine the ore could be taken directly to the smelter without the need for processing in order to make a concentrate. The entire display face sparkles with deep maroon-red Cuprite crystals which line the vuggy gossan matrix. The crystals average 1 to 2 mm but can be to 4 mm, all with brilliantly reflective mirror-like surfaces. A most eye-catching Cuprite from Tsumeb.
