An interesting cabinet specimen of Calcite crystals covering a complex framework of Quartz epimorphs after cubic crystals of Fluorite from Cambokeels mine at Westgate in Weardale, County Durham, England. The accompanying British dealer’s label is typed Cammock Eals mine, one of several older, alternative names for this mine. The flat epimorph surfaces are coated in micro-crystalline Quartz with a texture of finely ground castor sugar; these can be creamy tan or light grey snow white. Some of these surfaces are like flat plates, but those which mimic phantom Fluorites cubes measure to over 2.5 cm on edge. The translucent white Calcite forms flattened rhombic crystals of flying saucer habit up to 7 mm, which richly cover the underlying epimorphs.
