A cabinet specimen from Herodsfoot mine at Lanreath in Cornwall, England, displaying fine pseudomorphs of Quartz after Baryte with a rich overgrowth of dull lead grey Galena crystals. The specimen is so characteristic of this most famous mine, with lustrous milk white Quartz crystals forming flat parallel sets of blades up to about 2 cm and possibly larger. The specimen has that certain “Herodsfoot look,” but in this case the grey metallic coverage of crystals are those of Galena, forming as cubes to around 5 mm and larger assemblages of cubes set at various angles. A lovely Herodsfoot specimen with a Rex Cook stock label.
