A beautiful miniature containing two type locality minerals from Leadhills in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, Leadhillite and Caledonite.  The Leadhills-Wanlockhead ore field is probably the most classic of Scottish mineral localities and its minerals are highly sought by dedicated collectors.  Specimens from this area are relatively uncommon, just try finding anything from here at one of the big mineral shows and you will be hard pressed.  Transparent, highly lustrous pseudo-hexagonal Leadhillite crystals richly line part of a 3.5 x 2.5 cm vug in a brecciated and re-cemented creamy white veinstone matrix.  Several fine crystals also sit outside the vug and typically measure to 5 mm between flats.  To complete this fine specimen, turquoise blue Caledonite crystals are also scattered along one side of the vug with a few inside it.  A delightful combination from the Leadhills mining district.
