Golden lemon cubic crystals of Fluorite are piled over an elongated ridge of crinoidal limestone matrix from Hilton mine in Scordale valley, Cumbria, England. This location is within a military controlled area requiring appropriate permission to collect, however, entry to the underground workings is now off-limits due to partial collapse. The crystals measure up to 1.5 cm on edge and range from gemmy to translucent, all with a bright glassy lustre. Gemmy micro-Quartz crystals are lightly sprinkled over the Fluorite which add sparkle. At one side, by the base, a roughly 3 x 1.5 cm area is more densely coated with milky white Quartz crystals and the occasional brown Siderite crystal nestles between the Fluorite here and there.
