Quartz var. Eisenkiesel on Fluorite

ID: CC21909
Lustrous, deep pigeon blood red crystals of Eisenkiesel, the Hematite-included variety of Quartz, densely cover a flat bed of dark inky purple black cubic Fluorite crystals which average between 3 and 5 mm on edge. The base of the specimen is mainly the underside of the Fluorite in massive form and almost a uniform black with a hint of purple. The dark Fluorite crystals have a slightly waxy lustre while the Eisenkiesel is brighter and glassy. The combination makes a striking cabinet specimen from the Johannesschacht mine in the Wölsendorf Fluorite Mining District, Upper Palatinate, Bavaria, Germany.
